Brand: Shrinivas Sugandhalaya
Fragrance: Nag Champa (Blue Box)
Satya nag champa incense sticks are one of the most popular incense sticks ever manufactured. They sell these everywhere and they used to have a very good reputation for being a high-quality and go-to nag champa incense stick.
Unfortunately, times have changed, and some ingredients such as halmaddi have become harder to source, thereby forcing incense manufacturers to change their formulas. Many people will tell you that Satya nag champa incense sticks aren’t quite as good as they used to be. I am of this opinion as well, but they are generally still decent incense sticks and it’s hard to go wrong with them.
As for the smell, if you’re unaware, nag champa is comprised of a sandalwood base, and a floral component, which can one of three different flowers, depending on the manufacturer. It smells sweet, floral, but is balanced by the wood.
Anyways, I thought I would try a box of these again and they seem to smell about the same as they did a couple years ago. Many years ago, it also used to contain a decent bit of halmaddi, but that seems to have been mostly removed. This does make the fragrance a lot less impressive then in the past.
These are nice, but I prefer, for example, Goloka’s nag champa incense sticks. They smell a bit more like the ‘oldschool’ nag champas.
