In Vedic astrology, everything is considered to be connected. The human body and the solar system are thought to work together in harmony to create the universe in which we live in.
Vedic astrology is a science which began over 4,000 years ago in ancient India. The Jyotish Vidya mentions that each individuals time of birth co-aligns with the positioning and movement of the planets.
According to this tradition, there are 9 astronomical bodies, including 7 of which are visible, and 2 of which are invisible.
The visible bodies include the sun, the moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn and the invisible ones included Rahu and Ketu. Each of these bodies are thought to contain different cosmic energies and they were thought to influence each individual’s life, depending heavily upon birth.
These traits were not necessarily good or evil, nor bad or good, but our place in the universe was simply thought to influence who we were as people. In Vedic astrology, gemstones are thought to hold similar traits to these planets and be able to change peoples lives in a similar way.
According to the Jyotish Vidya, each planet was assigned it’s own gemstone to symbolize the similar properties contained within.
