Today I am reviewing Shorindo Green Apple incense sticks.
This came in the ‘Memories of Japan’ incense assortment.
I’ve never tried a green apple incense before so this should be interesting.
This is also a ‘low-smoke’ incense.
I imagine the note might be hard for them to pin down, as it’s not really a scent typically used in incense, but let’s see how it goes.
The product description states:
The fresh, invigorating aroma of green apples. Bitter sweetness with clean, fruity fragrant overtones.
Main Ingredients: Cypress
Length: 5.5″
Burn Time: Approximately 30 minutes.
Company: Shorindo
Review
Cypress is definitely the dominant note here. There is definitely apple there too. It’s strange, because I’m not sure how they would add apple into their formulation. I assume, since this is a low-smoke incense, that they are using some sort of green apple oil in the incense stick. The green apple isn’t overpowering or anything, rather, it’s a bit light, although the aroma is certainly recognizable. It’s not like smelling a raw apple.
The cypress works pretty well with the light green apple scent and I believe they picked the right aromatic wood to accompany the green apple.
Personally, I usually prefer more ‘dry’ scents, but if you like the combination of wood and light fruit, then you may very well like this.
