Today I am reviewing Shoyeido Plum Blossoms incense sticks.

These are one of Shoyeido’s more popular incense sticks and also happen to be on the cheaper end of Shoyeido’s incense offerings.

Main Ingredients: Benzoin, spices, and sandalwood.
Length: 5.25″
Burn Time: Approximately 25 minutes.
Company: Shoyeido

These incense sticks smell of dark, rich spices before even burning them.

Review

I have had this incense stick lit for a while now.

It’s decadent. Rich. Fruity. Sweet, with a lot of spice, namely cinnamon and clove. There is a certain sweetness to the incense smoke. There are also resinous, earthy notes coming from the benzoin.

I am not sure where the plum fragrance is coming from true plum content, or a fragrant plum extract, or even something else, but it certainly of plum.

There is actually a lot going on in the fragrance profile.

The smell of this incense almost reminds of a plum and spice dessert, but with the additions of sandalwood and benzoin.

I now see why this incense formulation is so widely popular. In fact, I much prefer it to a similar Shoyeido offering, which is their Kyoto Cherry Blossoms incense. I believe the Cherry Blossoms uses rhubarb and has a very similar fruit and spice fragrance.
